A lIttle flight, a little tongue in cheek, the Un-Group photo

TRAINUAL Sometimes they take flight.

Have you ever thought that showingo off your team in a photo just needed a little something?

Something more than just a shoulder to shoulder, some crouched, some standing, looking full-faced to the camera?

Me too.

In the last couple months, I've again had the privilege to make the photographs for AZ Central's Top Workplaces awards.

Many of these shoots, 13 this year, involve large groups of team members. When doing this work, it usually involves a number of people from their team, maybe a handful, like five or a big group, like 50.

In every occasion I try to push us toward something more. It's an idea in my head, it's something a team member said, it's an object in the office, but always, always it is 1000% buy in of the folks participating. I could not do this by myself and when that buy-in happens, the only limitations are time and space. And the space is not always as limiting as you might think! take my background in environmental portraits and a little humor and we create an Un-group photo.

Some companies opt to stay more conservative in our approach, and there are very good reasons for this, in keeping with their company mission, culture and identity, but whenever possible I try to get off the beaten path, even for a little bit to create a crew photo that is different from what we often see in these. Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's dramatic, but it's always a little visually different and eye-catching.

And sometimes flight takes on an annual tradition.
This one from last year seemed to start with Country First Mortgage,
and continued above with Trainual in a last-minute impromptu idea that we agreed to pursue
